Questions employers ask
What comes up before the first call. If yours is missing, write to us.

We only hire locally. Is this still for us?
Yes, and most employers run it that way. Your challenge covers wherever you hire: your city, your state, or the country. Every college you choose can send you candidates whose work stood out, including the ones recruiters never visit. Going wider is a later conversation, never a requirement.
Does running a challenge expose our hiring plans or strategy?
No. Students see your name and the problem you set. They do not see hiring numbers, target roles, or strategy, because the brief is sanitised before it reaches them. Confidentiality and ownership of all work product are covered in a standard agreement before anything begins.
What do students get?
Four weeks of mentored work on a real problem from a named employer, feedback at every checkpoint, and a Skills Track Record and certificate that carry the name of your challenge. Participation is free. Top performers also earn an interview with you.
Is the challenge the only way to interview with us?
Your call. Most employers treat a strong result as a fast track that guarantees an interview and keep other routes open. Some later make it the main route for early-career roles. The challenge is free for students, and every participant keeps a Track Record whether or not they reach the shortlist.
Is the four-week program the only format?
No. Competitions let large numbers attempt your challenge in a short, ranked format and earn a fast track into the program. Workshops are how placement teams prepare their students. The interview is earned only in the four-week program, because only four weeks shows consistency.
How is this different from campus recruitment as we do it today?
Today: the campuses you can visit, one season, travel and fairs, and a resume as the signal. With an Always-On Challenge: every college you choose, all year, one annual program, and a Track Record from four weeks of observed work.
Is Future Bench a recruitment agency?
No. We charge no placement fees and take nothing when you hire someone you met through a challenge. We provide the evidence; the decision and the relationship are yours.
What do we receive at the end of a challenge?
The solution work, skill data on every participant, and a ranked shortlist with full Skills Track Records. Always-On employers also get a Standing Report every month.
How do you handle candidates using AI during the challenge?
We expect it, as you will of your employees. We evaluate what AI cannot supply: consistency over four weeks, collaboration seen by teammates, response to feedback, and judgment in how tools are used.
Are students paid for the work?
Participation is free and voluntary. Students get a mentored learning program, an evaluation, and a credential they keep. The brief is designed as a learning exercise, not as work your business depends on. Ownership and use of work product are set out in the agreement, and we confirm the arrangement against your jurisdiction's rules before launch.
What does our team have to commit?
A brief, a kickoff call, a welcome in week one, and a seat on the closing panel in week four. We handle design, cohorts, facilitation, and evaluation.
How quickly can a challenge launch?
From a scoped brief, applications usually open within three to four weeks, and you are watching real work a month later. Always-On programs launch with a named set of colleges and add more each term.
Where do you run programs?
Wherever you hire. The network behind Future Bench spans colleges and learners in 190+ countries, and one challenge can run in a single city or across several countries at once, with the same five capabilities rated the same way everywhere.
What does it cost?
Annual programs billed monthly, scoped by reach, term, and the countries you hire in. No per-student, per-hire, or placement fees. We share a proposal after one conversation rather than a rate card, because the right reach differs for a regional employer and a multinational. If you run one Four-Week Challenge and then start an Always-On program within ninety days, we take the fee you paid for that challenge off the annual program.
Bring a challenge. Watch real work within a month.
One email starts it. We scope the challenge with you in one call and run everything from there. Your name is on the challenge; your hiring plans stay private.
